Loscil - Adrift 1.1

Adrift is a collection of four pieces of ambient music by the accomplished musician loscil. The compositions utilize structured random selection to perpetually play without a defined beginning or end. These pieces were crafted as auditory landscapes, portraying sounds akin to seascapes, wherein the listener is invited to drift in and out of moments, alternating between serving as focal points for profound listening and blending into the depths of the subconscious.

Each of the four compositions is titled after a renowned ghost ship. Similar to their namesakes, the music within Adrift meanders at sea, mirroring the aimless and lost nature of vessels drifting with the tides, following the ebb and flow of waves.

The album integrates acoustic and electronic sources that were separately recorded and produced as individual phrases and components. These elements are then selected and interwoven on-the-fly by the application, resulting in a subtly unique musical experience with each listen. Additionally, Adrift showcases original artwork by Gregory Euclide and features compositions and production by Scott Morgan along with pianist Kelly Wyse, cellist Mark Bridges, and harpist Elisa Thorn.
